- Use as many medium size boxes (5 cubic feet) as possible - medium size boxes can hold more things than small boxes. Boxes also stack up easier than plastic bags. Our dollies can carry 3 medium size boxes each time compared to 2 plastic bags by hands. Please pack the boxes to the top as unfilled boxes may be crushed causing damage to the content inside the box. Do not overfill the boxes as overfilled boxes do not stack up well inside the truck. Label FRAGILE for fragile items so our movers will not stack things on top of it. If you need boxes, we provide strong reusable plastic boxes for our moving customers for two weeks free of charge.
- Reserve the elevator and parking space closest to the entrance - You can reduce the amount of waiting time if you can reserve the elevator with your building. Most apartment would require you to book the elevator prior to your move. If you live in a house, reserve the parking space closest to your entrance would reduce the loading time. You can do so by parking your cars at the desired parking space prior to the move or call your city hall to reserve the parking space days before your move. Our 3 ton truck requires a length of 24 feet plus 12 feet of ramp space. Our 5 ton truck requires a length of 30 feet plus 12 feet of ramp space.
- Hiring 3 movers instead of 2 - If you live in a 2 bedroom or more, having a third mover can make your move much more efficient. When we move your furniture, we need to put it inside the truck, secure it tightly and also pack the truck as tight as possible. When there are only 2 movers, both movers have to move every item from the house into the truck and secure every item together. When there is 3 movers, the third mover would be stationed inside the truck to organize, secure and pack the truck while the other 2 movers move things from your house onto the truck, making the moving process much more efficient.
- Remove items from inside the drawers. No need to tape the drawers as we will shrink wrap it avoiding any sticky residue from the tape.
- You can save lots of money if all the boxes and small items can be loaded from the garage and/or offloaded to the garage. But if you'd like, we're more than happy to move every piece to the exact spot you want.
How long does the move take?
Our goal is to keep the total cost within your budget and within our estimate. The time it will take for every house is different based on many factors: the amount of items in the house, the amount of additional work required (dismantling, reassembly, packing, wrapping...), whether there are any stairs, the distance from the house to the truck, the distance from your old house to your new house and so on. If you have a certain budget you'd like to keep within, there are many things you can do prior to the move to reduce the amount of time required (please see the above). The more you can do, the less we time it will take. But if you'd rather sit back and relax, we'd be more than happy to do everything for you.
Packing: All items smaller than a five cubic feet box should be in box. It keeps the item safe and secure from damage. Boxes are also stackable. All fragile items should be wrapped with packing paper or bubble wrap. Wrapping can be very time consuming depending the amount of items that need to be wrapped and put in boxes. We provide moving boxes to our customers for 2 weeks free of charge. Prepping: Beds and dining table require dismantling. All furniture needs to be wrapped and protected with blankets or poly-film prior to loading to keep them safe and clean during the move. All blankets and poly-film are included. Prepping work may take an hour or more depending on the amount of furniture that need to be dismantle and wrapped. Doing prepping work yourself could save you hours from the move. But again, if you'd rather sit back and relax, we'd be more than happy to do everything for you. Loading and offloading: The average loading and off loading time for 3 movers. Your moving time may vary depending on the factors mentioned above. Bachelor 2~3 hours to load and offload a 2 ton truck 1 Bedroom 2~4 hours to load and offload a 3 ton truck 2 Bedroom 4~6 hours to load and offload a 3 ton truck 3 Bedroom 6~8 hours to load and offload a 4 ton truck 4 Bedroom+ 8~10 hours to load and offload a 5 ton truck Your loading and offloading time may be more if you have more than 1 truckload of items. You can save lots of money if all the boxes and small items can be loaded from the garage and/or offloaded to the garage. But if you'd like, we're more than happy to move every piece to the exact spot you want. Driving time and Travel time: Driving time is the time it takes from your old home to your new home. Often the actual travel time is much longer than the fixed time we charge our customers, especially when there is traffic or difficulties finding parking space.
